UB University Life and Services Announces Partnership with MASH Urgent Care

UB UNIVERSITY LIFE & SERVICES – The University at Buffalo announced today that it has partnered with MASH Urgent Care to provide UB students with enhanced after-hours and weekend transportation to MASH’s local network of medical facilities.

Under this new partnership, MASH Urgent Care will provide UB students, at no charge, with safe transportation to local MASH locations during periods when the UB Student Health Services in Michael Hall is closed.

"This newly formed partnership with MASH Urgent Care provides a win-win proposition for the UB student and addresses a longstanding issue of after-hours and weekend medical care for our student body," said Dennis Black, Vice President for UB University Life and Services. "By providing a convenient transportation option for our students to access the several local MASH Urgent Care locations in Western New York, collectively we have provided our students with a logical and convenient choice for their medical needs."

"I was excited to learn about the MASH Urgent Care partnership with UB," said Sam McMahon, President of UB’s Undergraduate Student Association. "Having an after-hours healthcare service is a great supplement to UB's existing healthcare options. I think this service will be immensely valuable to the UB student community."

Under terms of the partnership agreement, which are effective immediately, MASH Urgent Care vehicles will be available to transport UB students with medical issues from bus shelters on UB’s North and South campuses. The new agreement also provides UB students with the convenience to use campus cash for copays at several MASH locations.

"MASH Urgent Care is proud to provide after-hours healthcare to University at Buffalo students and we look forward to improving the health of the UB community," said Dr. Mark Pundt, CEO of MASH’s medical division and proud UB alumnus. "Our exceptional medical team, located just minutes from both UB campuses, coupled with free transportation, will mean convenient and affordable treatment of illnesses and injuries for the entire UB family."

Susan Snyder, UB’s Director of Student Health Services, also provided some insight into the benefits of an enhanced student medical response program. “We are committed to providing comprehensive health education and quality medical services to every UB student,“ said Snyder. "After a full evaluation of what MASH Urgent Care can provide, we concluded that these services would be of great benefit to the UB student and address after-hours medical care issues."
